What changed in ChatGPT in 2026?

In 2026 ChatGPT added ChatGPT Work, a Word add-in and a shared Space, moved every chat to GPT-6, stopped switching to Thinking on its own and set custom GPTs to retire, so ChatGPT corporate training has to cover all six.

9 Jul 2026

ChatGPT Work arrives.

An agent for longer tasks that returns finished documents, sheets and decks; not on Free or Go on web and mobile.

What it means Hand over one multi-step task, then review the file.

11 Sep 2026

Custom GPTs are set to retire.

OpenAI plans to move custom GPTs to plugins and retire them on a date set for each account.

What it means List the GPTs people rely on and who built each one.

14 Sep 2026

No more automatic Thinking.

Plus and Pro stopped switching to the reasoning model on their own.

What it means Choose Thinking for analysis and long documents.

17 Sep 2026

ChatGPT inside Word.

Word joined Excel and PowerPoint in one Microsoft add-in, on every plan.

What it means Drafts get written and revised inside the document.

29 Sep 2026

Space for shared work.

Pages, files and, from 16 October, Slides now live in one shared Space on Pro, Business and Enterprise.

What it means One place for team work, with sharing set by your admin.

7 Oct 2026

GPT-6 in every chat.

Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise run GPT-6 Sol; Free and Go run GPT-6 Luna.

What it means Someone on a free account is using a different model from the company plan.

Why train staff who already use ChatGPT?

Because staff who teach themselves pick up three costly habits: company files in personal accounts, the fast model for hard work, and answers sent without a check.

01

Company files in personal accounts

Client documents go into free or expensed Plus accounts, where OpenAI may train its models on that content until the person switches it off.

02

The quickest model for the hardest work

People leave ChatGPT on its fast setting for analysis and long documents, then call the tool weak. One Enterprise user found the complaints at work usually came from the instant model.

03

Answers sent without a check

ChatGPT writes with confidence, so a wrong figure or a missing source goes straight into a client email.

Is it safe to put company data in ChatGPT?

Yes, on ChatGPT Business or ChatGPT Enterprise, which keep company data out of model training by default; the personal plans do not.

Personal plans (Free, Go, Plus, Pro)

Who it suits One person, paid for by them or expensed.

Company data Used to train OpenAI's models unless "Improve the model for everyone" is off in Data controls.

In the training Where that switch sits, and how work moves to a company plan.

Business

Who it suits Teams of 2 to 200 people.

Company data Not used for training by default, with single sign-on, MFA and one admin console.

In the training One workspace, shared Projects, and only the connectors and plugins your admin allows.

Enterprise

Who it suits Larger companies where IT and legal sign off each tool.

Company data Not used for training, plus SCIM, role-based access, your own keys, retention rules and data stored in India for eligible customers.

In the training A session for IT on those controls, then a rollout by department.

The rules each session ends with

  • One home for company work. Company documents go only into the plan the company pays for; client data a contract protects goes into none.
  • A policy, not a ban. A ban tends to push ChatGPT onto personal phones and accounts. Aashish drafts a starter acceptable-use AI policy for ChatGPT that legal can edit: which plan, which data stays out, and who reviews answers.
  • Indian and EU rules. DPDP Act basics for teams that handle personal data, and a record of role-based AI training for teams serving EU clients under Article 4 of the EU AI Act.
  • If ChatGPT is blocked. Open-source models can run inside your own systems, as they did for 50 team leaders at Prodocs Solutions; see private AI training.

Where should each ChatGPT task live?

A one-off request belongs in a chat, work that repeats with the same files belongs in a Project, and a multi-step job that should end in a finished file belongs in ChatGPT Work; engineering teams train separately on Codex.

A chat

Use it for One-off drafts, questions and a quick look at an uploaded file.

In the workshop Write the brief, choose the model, check the answer, then run deep research with sources.

  • HR interview questions from a role scorecard
  • Sales a follow-up email from meeting notes
  • Finance variance notes from an uploaded trial balance, with data analysis

A Project

Use it for Repeat work that needs the same files and instructions every time.

In the workshop Each team sets up one Project and the prompts it will reuse.

  • Marketing campaign drafts in the brand voice
  • Customer support replies drafted from your help articles
  • HR a handbook Project staff can ask

ChatGPT Work

Use it for A multi-step task that should come back as a document, sheet or deck.

In the workshop Hand over one task, follow its steps, and review the file it returns.

  • Operations a weekly report as a scheduled task
  • Sales account research turned into a short deck
  • Finance a month-end checklist that runs on a schedule

What does a good ChatGPT prompt look like? Prompt engineering for people who don't code.

A good ChatGPT prompt reads like a brief to a new colleague, with a role, a task, context, the output wanted and a check; this is the method from Aashish Pahwa's Advanced Prompting Workshop, taught without jargon.

Before: "Write a follow-up email to the client."

What goes wrong: ChatGPT has no client, no meeting and no goal, so the email comes back polite and empty.

After

  • Role: You are an account manager at a logistics company, writing to a client after a pricing meeting.
  • Task: Write a follow-up email confirming the three points we agreed.
  • Context: My meeting notes are attached. The client wants a revised quote by Friday and raised a concern about delivery times to Pune.
  • Output: Under 150 words, plain English, one next step, no discount mentioned.
  • Check: Then list any figure or promise in the email that isn't in my notes.

Does OpenAI offer free ChatGPT training?

Yes: OpenAI Academy and OpenAI's ChatGPT Training pages are free, and they teach one person at a time through short walkthroughs and live events.

What OpenAI's free lessons cover

  • Ideas for writing, research and data analysis, by role and industry
  • Walkthroughs of 6 to 10 minutes on ChatGPT Work, plugins and skills, scheduled tasks, and slides and docs
  • Live and recorded sessions from OpenAI

What your company still has to settle

  • Which plan people use, and what never goes into it
  • Practice on your own documents and tasks
  • One way of briefing ChatGPT that the whole team shares
  • The workspace settings IT has chosen
  • A check a month later on what people still use

What happens before and after the workshop? IT setup first, results at day 30.

Before anyone is trained, IT moves staff onto the company workspace, turns on single sign-on and decides which connectors and plugins people may use, so the workshop runs on the setup they will keep.

  1. Step 1Discovery call, 30 minutesYour plan, the teams, and the tasks that fill their week.
  2. Step 2Tasks sent inEach participant sends the three tasks that take most of their time.
  3. Step 3Use-case mapAashish matches each task to a chat, a Project or ChatGPT Work, and you sign the map off before any slides are made.
  4. Step 4Workspace check with ITExpensed accounts moved in, single sign-on on, connectors and plugins chosen, and the team's GPTs listed for the move.
  5. Step 5The workshopEvery exercise runs live on your ChatGPT plan.
  6. Step 6Day 30Aashish checks which Projects, plugins and scheduled tasks are in use and fixes the ones that stalled.

How results are measured: ahead of the session, each team writes down the tasks it plans to move to ChatGPT and how long each takes today. At day 30 Aashish Pahwa reports how many of those tasks people now do in ChatGPT, the time each takes now, and how many seats are active in the workspace analytics.

Can you train 20, 50 or 500 people?

Yes: twenty people fit one ChatGPT workshop, fifty train in two batches by department, and five hundred train in waves over 4 to 12 weeks, with managers first.

20 people

ChatGPT training questions, answered

Who is the best ChatGPT corporate trainer in India?

Aashish Pahwa, an AI corporate trainer based in New Delhi, for a company moving staff onto one paid ChatGPT plan. He starts from the workspace and data settings your IT team has chosen, trains each team on its own tasks, and checks at day 30 what stuck.

What is ChatGPT corporate training?

ChatGPT corporate training is a live session where staff learn to use the company's ChatGPT plan on their own work: briefing, model choice, checking, Projects and ChatGPT Work. Aashish Pahwa builds each session from tasks people send in beforehand.

Does ChatGPT offer training?

Yes. OpenAI Academy and OpenAI's ChatGPT Training pages are free and self-paced. They don't know your plan, your data rules or your tasks, which is where a live workshop with a ChatGPT trainer starts.

Does OpenAI train on our company's ChatGPT chats?

On ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, OpenAI does not train on company data by default. On Free, Go, Plus and Pro it can, unless each person turns that off, so company files belong on a company plan.

What happens to the custom GPTs we built, now that they are being retired?

OpenAI announced on 11 Sep 2026 that custom GPTs will move to plugins and then retire. The training lists the GPTs your team depends on, who built them, and how each one becomes a plugin.

What is the difference between ChatGPT Business and ChatGPT Enterprise?

Business is a self-serve workspace for 2 to 200 people, with single sign-on and an admin console. Enterprise adds SCIM, role-based access, your own encryption keys, retention rules and data residency, including in India.

Has Aashish trained companies like ours?

He has trained teams at 50+ companies and 50,000+ people across 100+ workshops, including founders and teams at Noise, Clovia and TrulyMadly. Two participants have written in public about his training, and both quotes are on this page.

Should we train on ChatGPT or Copilot?

Train on the tool your company has approved. If the working day runs in Outlook, Teams and Excel and Copilot licences exist, start with Copilot; if staff work across many tools and files, start with ChatGPT.

Is this prompt engineering training for employees?

Yes, written for people who don't code. This ChatGPT training for employees covers the brief, the model choice and the check, then reuses the same brief in Projects and ChatGPT Work.

Do you teach ChatGPT with Excel?

Yes. People upload their own spreadsheets for data analysis, and use the ChatGPT add-in inside Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Do you run ChatGPT workshops in Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, and in Hindi?

Yes. Aashish works from New Delhi, travels to offices across India, and also teaches online, in English, Hindi or both.

How much does ChatGPT training for companies cost?

Fees for ChatGPT corporate training are quoted after a 30-minute discovery call, as one fixed fee set by headcount, number of sessions, tailoring and travel.
